1958 Chevrolet Corvette
VIN: #J58S101731
Born in 1958, this classic beauty is unique in many ways. Considered by many to mark the birth of the muscle car, this Panama Yellow gem is one of only 455 out of 9,168 sold in 1958, featuring this one-year option hue. Additional first-year design changes include the heavily chromed dual quad headlights, simulated scrub board louvers on the hood, and chrome suspender trim across the trunk, gracefully extending from the rear window area down to the bumper. The louvers and the added trim across the trunk were also unique to this model year. This example of yesteryear, parked in a garage since 1974, was fully disassembled until it saw the light of day in 2017 when it was rescued for a full frame-off restoration. As some of the original components were not present at the time of restoration, upgrades such as a new 350 V-8 engine, a 5-speed transmission, and an aftermarket AC system were included in the rebirth. Additionally, a hidden Bluetooth sound system enhances those Sunday moring rides through the park with great music from the 50's and 60's. We hope you enjoy this step back in time.

The only way to tell if a 1969 SS 396 is a genuine SS is by the cowl tag or the build sheet paint code. A code of 72 (Monaco Orange) or 76 (Daytona Yellow) are the only paint codes assigned to genuine assembly line SS 396 Chevelles which proves the vehicle is not an SS 396 clone.

That was down over 50% from the 1,254,687 during the 1929 International Series six-cylinder production. It was the fourth consecutive year that Chevrolet out produced the historical production leader, Ford. It took just 16 years from the founding of Chevrolet in 1911 to accomplish that feat. Some of the reasons were: 109” wheelbase vs 103.5” wheelbase, 4 longitudinal springs vs two transverse springs; 50 hp six-cylinder vs 40 hp four-cylinder engine.
Initially, 9 models were produced: Coach, Standard Coupe, Standard 5-window Coupe, Sport Coupe, Standard Sedan, Special Sedan, Standard Roadster, Sport Roadster and Phaeton. In April 1931, three new models were introduced: Cabriolet, Landau Phaeton and 5 Passenger Coupe.
Initially priced at $510, the car on display sports several extra cost accessories: Front & Rear bumpers $20, Cowl lamps $3.55, Radiator Grill $7.50, Dual side mount fenders $15. Yes, bumpers were an extra cost option!

1954 C1 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
VIN #0726540F54YG
This Corvette was built in St. Louis, Missouri in a refurbished GM Factory. While 1953 was the first year of production for the Corvette, 1954 had only small changes to the first-year model. The original sales price of this car was $2, 774.00 and there were only 3,640 manufactured.
The power plant is a Blue Flame inline 6-cylinder engine that is naturally aspirated with 3 one-barrel Carter side draft carburetors. The displacement is 235.5 cu. In (3.9 liters) and produces 155 bhp at 4200 rpm. The reline for this engine is 5000 rpm. The transmission is a 2-speed Power Glide automatic.
This Corvette has only two modifications to the original design. The electrical system was modified from a 6-volt system to a 12-volt system. The dual exhaust was rerouted to exit behind the rear wheels to prevent heat deterioration of the fiberglass at the original location thru the rear bumper.
The owners of this Corvette, Joe & Robin Davis of Richmond, Texas are members of the Corvette Owners Club of Houston. These days this Corvette leads a charmed life of sunny day drives and car shows.

Chevrolet Tradition Continues:
The Official Pace Car of the 88th Indianapolis 500
This 2004 Corvette is owned by Pat Studdert, long standing member and sponsor of the Corvette Owners Club of Houston. Very few modifications were made to the Corvette to prepare it for this 88th Indianapolis 500 race: heavy-duty transmission and power steering coolers, a low restriction muffler system, four-point racing type safety belts and a safety strobe light system.
Corvette performed Indy 500 pace car duties for a record sixth time, being driven by actor Morgan Freeman. This also marked the third consecutive year and 15th time overall that a Chevrolet product has served as the official pace vehicle – the most appearances by any brand.
Like race cars, the duties of the pace car can be long and strenuous. During the last two races, for example, the Chevy pace vehicles led the field for a combined 84 laps (210 miles) of the total 400 laps run at an average lap speed of 75 mph. Even during green flag conditions, the pace car runs at idle, ready for action at a moment’s notice. Chevrolet produced no replicas of this Pace Car for sale to the public.
Gold Standard
Number 38
This is the 38th Corvette manufactured out of the 300-total built in 1953. This Corvette has gone through a complete frame off restoration by the joint efforts of owner Steve Newsom and C&I Corvette of Theaika, KY. All 1953 Corvettes were painted Polo White with Red Interior and Black Canvas Top. No other options were offered in 1953. If you look closely at the lacquer paint, you will see a woven texture finish throughout the fiberglass body. This texture is called “Mat” and should be visible on all 1953 Corvettes.
These cars were essentially hand built and the bodies were made of hand laid fiberglass and resin. White was the chosen color by General Motors to help mask the m any imperfections in the body. The cars had no exterior door handles. There is a lever inside you pull to open the door by reaching through the window.
This particular Corvette led a very sheltered life. It sat in the living room of a house in Kansas City for 40 years before it was purchased by Steve Newsom. Every effort has been made in the restoration of this car to bring it back to the perfectly imperfect condition that it was when it rolled off the assembly line.
All 1953 Corvettes were equipped with:
- 235 cu. in. 6 cylinder, 150 hp engine
- 2 Speed Powerglide Transmission
- Tach Drive Distributor
- 55 Differential
- Vacuum Operated Wipers
- (3) Carter One Barrel, Side Draft Carburetors
- AM Wonderbar Radio
- 6 Volt Electrical System
- Drum Brakes
- Dual Exhaust
Bloomington Gold
Featuring longtime associate of the Corvette Owners Club of Houston, Richard Hudson, and three of his Corvettes. Richard works at our car shows incognito behind the scenes and has assisted us many times. His 1963 black Corvette was Bloomington Gold Certified. The Bloomington Gold event is the longest lasting Corvette event in the United States, the Gold Certificate being created in 1978. Bloomington Gold is recognized worldwide among car owners for its prestigious judging process of Corvettes and the authentication a Bloomington Gold Certificate brings to a Corvette.
Bloomington Gold judging is not based on car versus car but rather the factory standard when the car rolled off the assembly line. The award is either “black or white” based on the factory defined standard given the proper model year. It is often referred to as the TFP or Typical Factory Production. The Certificate means the car has been preserved or restored to within 98 to 100% of the TFP Standard for that year and model. Bloomington Gold standards for authenticity and condition are clear – the goal is to attain historic perfection not cosmetic perfection.
