Featured Cars for each Corvette Generation

C1 - FIRST GENERATION (1953-1962)

1960 Corvette

I bought my 1960 Corvette in 1976 with hard/soft tops for $2,350. I was 27 at the time, married and starting a family. I drove it for a year or so and, then, decided that the bright Mustang yellow/orange paint wasn't for me. I stripped it down, had some glass work done and disassembled it. That's how it sat until 2019. I had just retired in 2017 at 68 years old, and finishing the Corvette was on my bucket list. I realized at my age that I needed some improvements/modern conveniences like a late model engine, automatic transmission, power brakes, power steering and air conditioning. As such, I had my old car rebuilt as a modified or restomod. I wanted the body and interior to be or look original, and I think my wish was achieved. I grew up with, and will always appreciate and love the old 50s, 60s and 70s performance cars.

C2 - SECOND GENERATION (1963-1967)

1967 Corvette

The L79 engine in the 1967 Corvette was a high-performance 327 cubic inch small-block V8, producing 350 horsepower. Known for its strong mid-range torque and overall performance, the L79 was a popular choice. Available with a 4-speed manual or 3-speed automatic transmission, it featured a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, dual exhaust system, and an aluminum intake manifold.

C3 - THIRD GENERATION (1968-1982)

1978 Corvette 25th Anniversary

To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Corvette, the C3 body was modified in 1978 to bring back the "fastback" styling of the rear window. Additionally, every Corvette that came off the line came with special 25th-Anniversary badging. We absolutely love our 1978 Corvette. It's a silver coupe with oyster interior and it still has the original L-48 small block 350 V8 engine and numbers-matching turbo 350 automatic transmission.

C4 - FOURTH GENERATION (1983-1996)

1991 Corvette ZR-1

It was March of 1995. I went to my friend's Chevrolet dealership to take delivery of a 1995 Lumina minivan.
When I walked into the showroom there it was. A Torch Red 1995 Corvette ZR-1. It was love at first sight! My dream car! The American sportscar that was blowing away all the competition, foreign and domestic. “I’ve got to have it!” I said to myself. But how? I have 3 kids and I’m a SIMK – Single Income Many Kids. So, I “happily” took delivery of the Lumina minivan and went on my merry way. “The child is grown, the dream is gone.”
Fast forward 24 years…I’m now an “empty nester” and the C4 ZR-1’s are a bargain compared to other generation of Corvettes. After a few months of web surfing I found a yellow 1991 ZR-1 with 34,000 miles. This is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted one that has been driven and was well maintained so that all of the seals have stayed lubricated.
So, it took me until I was an “old guy” to get one but here she is. It is by far the most fun car I’ve ever driven. Like the slogan says…”Life begins at 180”.

C5 - FIFTH GENERATION (1997-2004)

1997 Corvette

This 1997 C5 Corvette has been one of those cars that reminds you why you love cars in the first place.
I purchased it at a Mecum auction when they came to Houston. I was actually there hunting for a Firebird, but everything changed when I rounded a corner and saw this C5 sitting there. My heart genuinely started racing. The bidding was fast, intense, and winning the auction was absolutely exhilarating. I knew immediately this car was coming home with me.
The car is finished in classic black over a black leather interior, a combination that never goes out of style. Yes—keeping a black car clean is a challenge, but when it’s freshly detailed, it’s 100% worth the effort.
When I bought the car, it still had the original aluminum wheels, which I personally never cared for. I replaced them with black C6 Corvette wheels, which dramatically modernize the look and suit the car perfectly. Other than that, I’ve made a point to keep the car largely original.
One known issue with early C5s is the factory adjustable shocks—they were not functional when I acquired the car. I’ve since upgraded the shocks, restoring proper ride quality while maintaining the spirit of the original setup.
Inside, the car retains its original cassette deck and 12-disc CD changer, which is a great throwback. To make it more usable today, I added a Bluetooth adapter that plugs directly into the CD changer wiring, giving modern audio functionality while preserving a clean, factory appearance—no aftermarket head unit, no cut wiring.
One of my favorite things about this Corvette is taking the targa top off on a sunny spring day. Few experiences compare to cruising with the roof off, LS power under your right foot, and that unmistakable C5 silhouette stretching out ahead of you.

C6 - SIXTH GENERATION (2005-2013)

2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon Edition

This is a very special 2011 C6 Z06 Carbon Edition. The Carbon Edition was produced only in 2011 and in very limited quantities (252 total, with 85 being Inferno Orange). Of the 85 Inferno Orange versions, only 12 were configured from the export market. Mine is one of those 12. And it has only 2,190 miles on the clock. I purchased the car from its original owner in Canada a few years ago. I have maintained full originality, with the original tires and all factory literature (window sticker, build sheet, service documents, etc). This is a true time capsule and I plan to keep it that way. I have put about 100 miles on it since purchasing the vehicle.
The Carbon Edition was basically a ZR1, but with a naturally aspirated 7.0 liter engine (427 cubic inches) with more lightweight carbon fiber and a Carbon Edition only carbon fiber hood. The 7.0-liter LS7 V8 features a dry-sump lubrication system and was factory rated at 505 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. It weighs only 3,133 lbs, yet has all the creature comforts we have come to expect in our cars.
Here is a link to an article about the Carbon Edition.

At the time of publication, the plan was to build 500 units, but ultimately only 252 were produced.
This is only of the last “analog” track cars with a lightweight body, manual transmission, and naturally aspirated engine that is tremendously fun to drive.

C7 - SEVENTH GENERATION (2014-2019)

2015 Corvette Z06

Night Race Blue 2015 C7 Corvette Z06 purchased new in November, 2014, in Collierville, TN. Manual 7-speed transmission with 650 HP. Interior black, carbon flash ground effects. Has been an excellent, reliable, fun car that we enjoy driving on a regular basis!

C8 - EIGHTH GENERATION (2020-present)

2021 Corvette Z51 Hardtop Convertible

I bought by first Corvette at age 55. It was a red, 1975 convertible. Beautiful car, fun to drive for about 50 miles! But it was rough, hot, and NO power! I sold it to a guy in Australia and purchased a 2003 Anniversary Edition C5 in 2007, This was a huge step up in comfort, power, and reliability. It had 18,000 miles when I bought it, and now has about 55K. It is a manual 6 speed, so a lot of fun to drive. I ran 3 Corvette Caravans with it, each 5-7,000 miles without a hiccup! I do still own it but toying with selling. So in 2019 I attended the NCM 25th Anniversary celebration and saw the new C8 on display. Amazing car, I thought, but just NOT a Corvette. Then in 2023, I began looking at the C7, which I always loved. I didn't even consider a C8 until a friend of mine drove over in his Red Mist Metallic C8 and asked if I wanted to drive it. I did, and I was hooked! So, in short order I found a 2021 Red Mist Stingray, Hard Top Convertible (HTC), Z51 with just over 6,000 miles. I have no regrets. The difference between the C8 and C5 is even greater than the C3 VS the C5. Ran the NCM 30th Anniversary in 2024, putting almost 7,000 miles on her with absolutely no issues, and more fun than should be legal!
